Privacy Policy

How we collect, use and protect personal information. Effective 1 November 2026.

Who we are

Spear Executive Partners is an executive search and leadership advisory firm. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean Spear Executive Partners. We act as the data controller for the personal information described here.

We take the privacy of our clients, candidates, partners and website visitors seriously. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, how we protect it and the choices you have.

Information we collect

Information you give us: when you send an inquiry, apply to become a partner recruiter, create an account or speak with our team, we collect details such as your name, job title, organization, work email, phone number, location and the content of your message.

Candidate information: during a search we may hold professional details such as career history, qualifications, compensation expectations, references and interview notes. This comes from you directly, from referees you name, or from publicly available professional sources.

Technical information: when you visit our website we record standard technical data such as browser type, device, pages visited and approximate location, so we can keep the site secure and working well.

How we use your information

We use personal information to respond to inquiries, deliver and manage search engagements, assess candidates for specific roles, onboard and support partner recruiters, maintain client relationships, meet our legal and accounting obligations, and improve our website and services.

We only rely on lawful grounds for processing: your consent, the performance of a contract with you or your organization, our legitimate interest in running a professional search business, or compliance with the law.

Confidentiality for candidates

Discretion is central to executive search. Candidate profiles are never shared publicly. We only present your details to a client after discussing the opportunity with you, and access within our firm is limited to the people working on the relevant search.

Where we use technology to help review profiles against a role, the final judgment is always made by a person. We do not consider protected characteristics such as age, gender, ethnicity, religion or disability when assessing suitability.

Sharing your information

We do not sell personal information. We share it only where needed: with clients for a specific search you have agreed to be considered for, with partner recruiters working on an assigned mandate, with trusted service providers who host our systems or deliver email on our behalf, and with authorities where the law requires it.

Every service provider we use is bound by confidentiality and data protection obligations and may only use the information to provide services to us.

International transfers

We work with organizations across Africa and international markets, so information may be processed outside the country where it was collected. When this happens, we put appropriate safeguards in place so your information receives an equivalent level of protection.

How long we keep information

We keep inquiry and client records for as long as the relationship is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet legal, tax and accounting requirements. Candidate profiles are kept for as long as they remain useful for future opportunities, and we will remove them on request.

When information is no longer needed, we delete it or make it anonymous.

How we protect information

We use encrypted connections, secure sign-in, role-based access controls and audit trails. Only authorized people can see confidential records, and each person sees only what their role requires. Private documents are stored securely and are never publicly accessible.

Your rights

Under the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019 and similar laws in other jurisdictions, you can ask to access the personal information we hold about you, correct anything inaccurate, delete information we no longer need, object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent at any time.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner in Kenya or the data protection authority where you live.

Cookies

Our website uses only the essential cookies and local storage needed to keep you signed in and the site working securely. We do not use advertising cookies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our services or legal requirements change. The latest version will always be published on this page with its effective date.
